On your way to work this morning, if you wanted to speed up, which would you do first? Take your foot off the brake, or step on the gas? If you step on the gas while you’re foot’s on the break you could have some major issues! Today I want to share a major way you’re keeping the foot on the brakes of your success…Complaining!
Complaining is the worst thing you can do for your wealth. When you’re complaining, are you focusing on what’s going right with your business or what’s going wrong?
A few years ago the great race car driver Mario Andretti was asked for his best tip for becoming a world-class racing champion. His answer was simply, “Don’t look at the wall.”

Surprisingly, drivers are taught that if they look at the wall, they’re more likely to hit the wall!
I believe that what you focus on expands, and if you’re focusing on what’s going wrong, you’re more likely to get more of what’s going wrong!
Think about it from a practical viewpoint; someone points out a ding on your car you’ve never noticed before. Now every time you get in your car your eye is drawn to it. “That’s been there for months, I thought you knew about it”, says your wife as you point it out to her. By focusing on it, it takes more of your attention and can even ruin some of the enjoyment of your car.
Stay away from complainers, because if there’s a problem, they’ll find it, and I just don’t need to spend my time focusing on problems. Do I need to know about certain problems? Of course, but I always try to spend way more time on the solution than I do on the problem. After you’ve got a brief idea of what the problem is, any more time spent on it is just complaining.
Watch how in a group those listening often get fired up and add their input as to how awful it is. Don't believe me?! Get a group of "stinkin thinkin" business owners on the subject of employees and watch how the conversation takes off in the wrong direction!
My challenge to you this week is to catch yourself complaining. Don’t worry about focusing on the good yet, just try to stop focusing on that bad and notice how it makes you feel. See how much faster you get to the solutions. Spend as little time as possible with the complainers around you, or practice how you can turn their conversation around or change subjects. Get your foot off the brakes, it’s good for your health and your wealth!
